IB results are out, plus a few updates…

hey guys;

So, it’s just over a month into my summer holiday, and since my last post, a number of events has taken place, but nothing is bigger than the IB results that were released at 19:15 yesterday (Thailand time). The results was amazing, considering that I even got a 6 for a subject! Below is the screenshot of the results page with all results shown…

IB Results

And…below are the full list of results, in plain text for those of you using screen readers…

  • English A: Literature HL: 4
  •  FRENCH AB. SL: 4
  • BUS.& MAN. HL in ENGLISH: 6
  • ENV. AND SOC. SL in ENGLISH: 5
  • GEOGRAPHY EE in ENGLISH: C
  • GEOGRAPHY HL in ENGLISH
  • MATH.STUDIES SL in ENGLISH: 5
  • THEORY KNOWL. TK in ENGLISH: C

Note these were copied straight from the IB results website, and for some reason they abbreviated subject names, but you should be able to figure out the full name of the subjects. But in case you can’t, I’ll give you the full name for subjects with abbreviated names…

‘BUS.& MAN.’ = Business & Management (students often just say ‘Business’)

‘ENV. AND SOC.’ = Environmental Systems and Societies (students often just say ‘ESS’)

‘THEORY KNOWL. TK’ = Theory of Knowledge (students often just say ‘TOK’)

And…there are other abbreviations as well; for instance ‘EE’ = Extended Essay, ‘HL’ = higher level, and ‘SL’ = standard level.

Note these results are for the May 2015 examination session.

Now, on to other stuff…

So, July 3rd was the last day of the academic year of 2014-2015, and I went to the school primarily to get my yearbook. The day opens as usual with an assembly with a number of videos and performances.

Perhaps what makes this assembly unique and different from previous years is that, somehow as the speaker on stage was wondering about the missing house points, an epic scene involving a student who performed as ‘Flash’ in the ‘Flash’ production took place, as if a hero had arrived to save the world or something…it was so epic!

After that it’s normal lessons, and I just either stay in the senior common room or walk around. I got a few signatures on my yearbook, but I was kind of disappointed that I couldn’t get a signature from my best friend in year 8 due to the lack of pen when I saw her during break.

And…on to some other stuff…

There’s one bad event that took place; it’s nothing to do with the trolls or anything, but rather something to do with my desktop…

On June 30th when I was trying to get rid of a program called Rollback RX, my computer froze and so I tried hard-reset. Sounds simple enough, isn’t it? Well…guess what, after I powered on, Windows no longer boots. And I can’t access the recovery and stuff as well, so that means only a reformat can fix my computer. So I decided to plug the hard drive into another computer as a secondary disk and tried to back up my files, and…to my horror, the entire folder containing photos and videos from XPO XV was gone! Fortunately though I still have the photos backed up on OneDrive, but the videos were gone, forever! I was greatly disappointed, as videos are quite important in refreshing my memories of the expo.

Right as I was exploring more, it wasn’t just that but also most photos and all videos at senior prom was gone, but not totally gone; they’re just broken/corrupted! Once again, I have backed up photos on OneDrive, though the number of videos lost was few, and usually I don’t record much during the prom anyway, as most of the time was spent dancing, but…yeah, the loss of so much videos from XPO XV is a negative hit to my memory…

Anyways, I guess that’s it for now…
